In the article, Matisse explained how he used pliable paper to connect it to water and create his cut out swimming pool. By using his imagination, he was able to relate the floppiness of paper to the smooth flow of water to create this magical swimming pool. In Sans Papiers, the poem goes on to explain in even more depth about the thought process that had to occur in order to create this swimming pool. It explain the motions, the sounds, and the sights of water that help create the image in Matisse’s head. And one of the most inspiring lines of this poem were the last two. Personally I interpret it to explain that you must endure and soak in all of the details of the other seas in order to fully interpret the on that Matisse has created.
